Katy Perry Wears Comme Des Garcons on Vogue Cover [Vogue]

Katy Perry covers Vogue's May issue wearing Comme des Garcons ahead of this year's Met Gala and the Costume Institute's spring 2017 exhibition, which focuses on designer Rei Kawakubo's creations for the Japanese label she founded in 1969. In her cover story, the pop star tells Hamish Bowles about growing up the daughter of evangelical Christian pastors, becoming more vocal post-election and trading in her “cutesy” bubble-gum pop style for a more “androgynous, architectural” image. Perry will serve as one of this year's Met Gala co-chairs.

Even Wonder Woman needs Beyonce. W Magazine cover star Gal Gadot revealed that prior to her audition for Wonder Woman, she listened to Queen B. “Waiting is my enemy Number One, and I was losing my mind. So, I decided to put on Beyonce,” said the actress, who will star in the Patty Jenkins-directed Wonder Woman, releasing June 2. “Who runs the world? Girls! I just started to dance, and I let my anxiety go. Thank you, Beyonce!”

Gucci's Pre-Fall Campaign Inspired by England's 1960s Northern Soul Movement [Pret-a-Reporter Inbox]

Gucci's pre-fall campaign, titled “Soul Scene,” is a '60s dance party. Photographed by Glen Luchford, the ads were inspired by England's vibrant underground Northern Soul movement in the 1960s, as well as the work of the late Malian artist Malick Sidibé, who photographed local nightlife and youth culture in his hometown of Bamako, Mali. The campaign “explores the freedom of expression found in music and dance,” according to the release, and stars a cast of only black models.

Glossier to Expand and Create 282 New Jobs [NY Governor]

New York governor Andrew Cuomo's office on Thursday announced that the Empire State Development will provide $3 million in performance-based tax credits to NYC-based digitally-savvy beauty brand Glossier, which was launched by Into the Gloss' Emily Weiss in 2014. The extra funding will allow the company to relocate from 123 Lafayette St. to a 26,000-square-foot space in One SoHo Square at 161 6th Avenue and to add 282 new jobs. Glossier raised over $40 million in venture capital funding and most recently closed their $24 million Series B round in November.

“Our investments in promising, innovative companies support job growth, drive innovation and cement New York's international reputation as a vibrant and diverse hub of economic excitement,” said Cuomo. Added Weiss: “We are grateful for New York State's support in expanding our team in New York City. It’s where we’ve grown from a beauty blog to a beauty brand and built our community.”
